Rupert Hawke

Managing Director

Founder Rupert Hawke is a holder of a business degree and a qualified management accountant, Rupert spent the first 10 years of his career working in multi-national business. In 2007 Rupert was appointed Finance Director of Cartwright King Solicitors – then a regional East Midlands firm. Firstly as FD and then as Managing Director (appointed 2013), Rupert oversaw CK’s journey to becoming a national law firm with 18 offices nationwide offering a wide range of legal services and renowned for a great culture, quality staff, and cutting edge IT systems.


Through his wide ranging experience in the legal sector, Rupert is a leading authority on the subject and its application and has contributed to numerous publications and spoken widely including for The Law Society.

After 12 years at Cartwright King Rupert decided he wanted a new challenge and started Hawke Legal – a consultancy that utilises the mass of experience and contacts Rupert has developed in his leading role in the legal sector.

Charlotte Powell

Consultant

Charlotte is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. She commenced her career as an engineer within the defence industry before diversifying into sustainable technologies – and thereafter into the ‘how’ of business success by leading operations. Through honing the internal mechanics of organisations to ensure a great customer experience, Charlotte has substantially improved the profitability of every business she has worked with.

In 2011, Charlotte was appointed Operations Director of Monsal Ltd, a loss-making, UK leader in the provision of anaerobic digestion from waste technologies – her remit from PE &VC investor group was to achieve profitability and sale. Over the next three years, turnover increased by 80%, together with profits and reputation in the industry, sale to GE Ltd was successfully achieved in 2014. Charlie subsequently led their European large projects team (>$10m) until 2018 when she decided that it was time to refocus her passions of building businesses, closer to home.

Over her 25-year career, Charlotte has sought to build businesses both small and large, achieving exit strategies for investors and supporting M&A activities. She is a strategic thinker, skilled at business transformation and overall project leadership. Charlie can add value to your organisation in areas such as:
